Critprogs-What's The End Game?

Assuming the dems have control, what does the US most resemble in 2032?

It will look like the US, with a stronger UHC program, slightly higher corp., cap gains and and top teir taxes, national right to abortion with restrictions, higher national min. wage and more infrastructure spending.

Cultures change over time.

Well, I will give it a go and ready myself for the eventual emoji barrage.

  1. Gun Safety: Red flag laws and universal registration/background checks. Since it is nationwide that also means no more state gun licenses but federal ones that work in all 50 states and are free to renew, since owning a weapon is a right and you should not have to pay for it. (Like voting, it should always be free) No assault weapons ban, it won’t work.
  2. Restoration of Roe: This was a sensible compromise for its time, but it should have always been through legislation and not judicial fiat. Sign it into law.
  3. Harvest our resources: We need to pay for a lot of energy conversion if we want to be clean and sustainable. We also have a large amount of oil and gas on federal land, more than in the entire Middle East combined. Sell it and pay down the debt and fund a more efficient grid that is resistant to natural disasters and has less loss on transmission. By the time we run out of oil and gas, the debt should be gone and the grid solid.
  4. Expand education to post secondary for all students: It used to take elementary school to make a living in the country, then it took HS. Each time we needed more, we made it available. Now, we need to expand education to post secondary trade schools and college education. But we need to reexamine how colleges work, a lot of it can be done online and relatively cheap. Use existing colleges for lab work and hands on courses, didactics can be done from home. This will pay for itself. Part of the obligation is mandatory service for all young people for a year, in many different avenues.
  5. Universal Pre-K and Day Care. If we want folks working, they have to have someone watching the kiddos and you can’t rely on family. Universal paid family leave as well.
  6. The ACA is fine as it stands.
  7. Abolish gerrymandering, make all redistricting non partisan.
  8. Enhance border protections and simplify the amnesty process so that the complete cycle takes less than 3 months from application to approval/rejection. Create a mechanism where workers can have targeted temporary work visas with agricultural or corporate sponsorship.
  9. Allow Puerto Rico to become a state.
  10. Raise the minimum wage to 15 dollars and then index it to inflation for the long haul. Remove caps on Social Security contributions and that will ensure its long term viability as well.

Pretty decent list. Doesn’t look “Marxist Hellhole” to me, but your opinion may vary.

“What will the US look like?!?!?!”

“Um, like the US, with a handful of moderate left policies in place…”

Then nothing like it looks today.

Do you really think you’re going to get Norway by importing Venezuelans and Haitians?

Does it?

No need to be passive aggresive like an 80 year old woman.

It is a very decent list. I’ll read it again tonight and respond.

Not really what I’m asking, but thank you for your effort.

It will look mostly like today. Like 10% different.

What does that 10% look like? What is your vision?

I listed most of it above.

I’ll start with #4

Why did we need more?

You want college to be “public”, like high school?

Where?

A few posts up.

The England model of education would be way better for us on a number of levels.

Buts it’s impossible now.

Yeah, I saw it. And replied.

Ok. Then you have your answer.
