We aren’t discussing the seasonal flu.
No one other than you brought up vaccines and testing being already developed. It’s a strawman argument.

If it bleeds…
Is it? What are you really worried about?
Everyone here has a greater chance of dying from COVID-19 than a muslim terrorist, even after 9/11.
Perspective
Unless you’re over eighty and already in failing Health with respiratory or cardiac issues there’s a hell of a lot of things up that are far more likely to kill you than this damn virus
Of course it will. And once the partisan hacks finally run out of hot air you’re not going to like the outcome.
The outcome being thousands and thousands of Americans dying? I already don’t like the outcome. How about you?

It’s Does not matter many cases we got relative to any other country on the planet.
There is no country on the planet like the United States. Our situation is unique I risk exposure is unique our population is unique in our land mass is unique how are people moving travel freely is unique in this world.
American Exceptionalism.
Not sure I believe that we are unique in any of the respects listed in that post…but where we are unique that leaves us vulnerable is that we are unable to have anything other than a decentralized response.
Indeed people complaining about how strong and domineering “CentGov” is will find no supporting evidence from this crisis.
You have touched on a lot of our exceptions yourself.

Sorry but you are ■■■■■■■ wrong. I have a compromised immune system and if I catch this I am straight up ■■■■■■
No it’s not a straw man.
A disease like the regular seasonal flu outbreak is far easier to combat than something that is just emerging that spreads even faster and asymptomatically.
There was not even a genetic code or name for this virus until mid-January.
We did not even have a genetic code for this virus until the 12th of January in less than a week later we had a test for it and we already had a vaccine in development.
I’m sorry Mother Nature is a cruel heartless **** and we cannot control her
If we can go from 0 to 6.5 million cases of a known disease for which we have vaccines treatments and test already in Waiting because we knew it was coming and had already developed in years before what makes you think that we are in any way capable of doing far better against the disease that is totally unknown and emerging and we have to wing it from day one based on real time data as it comes in?
Please give us a straight answer.
Dr. Birx predicts up to 200,000 coronavirus deaths 'if we do things almost perfectly'
““I think in some of the metro areas we were late in getting people to follow the 15-day guidelines,” she added.“
Well there you have it folks… a little bit of honesty from someone. They were late. Why? Especially when Trump KNEW it was a pandemic back in Feb.
You are wanting those guidelines in February?
The outcome being thousands and thousands of Americans dying? I already don’t like the outcome. How about you?
It’s a big deal. Or it isn’t. Or it is. Or it isn’t. What’s important is that it’s whatever Trump is saying it is today.

We’re three times the size of Italy with five times the population.
So what. We had advance warning that the virus would spread here and we blew it. Size is irrelevant
Well that’s not true at all.
We didn’t know about the virus before it reached our shores? Are you sure about that?
That size is irrelevant.
The only criticism regarding travel bans at the time was that Trump should not have had one. Now, its why didn’t he know earlier what would happen later and have taken action sooner. That is not constructive criticism. That is illegitimately trying to use a crisis.
protect the lives of Americans?
Problem.
Does he need data to shut down the country?

That’s a lot of words to finally agree Trump failed to use all of the time available to him to mitigate and depress the outbreak in America.

Led by the nose. It’s astonishing.
You are wanting those guidelines in February?
Yes… we already saw what was happening in Italy. The notion that the growth of this Virus is some big surprise is baffling to me.
Do I need to post this again?
I think I do.
Do I? Still spreading, still dying as of last night.

Doesnt matter. Trump always knew it was going to be a pandemic but didnt follow through on his hunch for months
Governors are responsible for States and Mayors are responsible for cities, not the president.
It was just a JV virus
Irony. Love it. “Was”.

Not necessarily it’s one of tens of thousands of games that were run that year.
You know as well as I do it can take years or decades for the results of one of those games to make it to the president’s desk if ever.
How many similar set scenarios were run that year and in years prior we’re and we did not have a negative outcome?
Hell we’re talking about the regular military there and not even in Special Ops that do the results of games always make it all the way to the top for review.
It wasn’t a military exercise. It was a pandemic scenario run by HHS. I don’t think you understand what is being discussed here.
Principle is the same.
I disagree. HHS doesn’t run tens of thousands of simulations each year that last for 8 full months of Federal preparedness for a global flu pandemic.
The principle is the same.
If you can’t recognize the Grand Canyon sized gulf of difference in both principle and actual, then I cannot help you.
You can’t help me period.
