Connecticut, the superbowl champions of Gerrymandering

District 1 is heavily blue. District 5 is mostly red. So to prevent Connecticut from having any republican representation, they pushed district 1 deeply into district 5 nearly surrounding part of the district. Absorbing red votes into a heavily blue area where they could do no harm. Look at that ridiculous shape they carved out to steal a house seat. On the upside, Republicans are learning. They are not yet as good at gerrymandering as the dems are, but they’re getting better!

I’ve seen worse.
A pox on both parties for this ■■■■■

Agreed. But if one party cheats, the other must follow suit. The republican’s are late to this game. But they’re catching up quickly.

They’ve both been doing it for decades.

Texas Republicans send their thoughts and prayers.

I really do appreciate your honesty.

The democrats were better at it.

Everything is gerrymandered. There’s no such thing as a district that is not gerrymandered.

The distinction is: for what purpose.

If anyone purposed a law that said: “the borders of districts must be drawn in such a way as the states delegates resemble the political makeup of the state as closely as possible without having the shapes be too outrageous” I’d support it.

Until then if one side is going to gerrymander to limit their oppositions seats they can’t complain when the other does it.

Yep. But the democrats were simply better at it. The republicans are finally starting to catch up.
