If a majority of people start to believe that the government is a truly corrupt entity that could cause people to start to ignore it. take income taxes for example. right now tax compliance in the US is very high. in places like italy where government corruption is more entrenched compliance is much lower. what happens if americans start ignoring taxes. thereās a real limit in what the IRS could do. they cant prosecute everyone.
I donāt think it will be a smooth, seamless transition to Pence, like some slow dissolve in a movie.
I am still betting Trump finishes his term, but if he doesnātāgiven all the different options and scenarios availableāthe process will be wrenching and devastating for the GOP. Do you think Trump is just going to bow out, with a quiet handshake and a magnanimous squeeze of Penceās shoulder? LOL.
Payment wise I think they would need to show that the āslush fundā was used for Campaign items as well. Then you would need to verify that the āfundā had no money from Donors in it. That it was Trumps money.
Then they would need to prove that he payed off the Porn star for Campaign reasons and not to hide his cheating from his wife.

If Trump is Indicted how long will that all take? I suspect Trump will stay in office if he is regardless. Unless Pence and others can convince him to step down for the best of the country and his supporters.
It is a tough Call I do believe Trump could be convinced to resign if he does get Indicted soon. It really depends on how fast Mueller would pull down an Indictment.
I donāt think anyone would want to place bets one way or the other if Trump would or would not.
And yes if he is Indicted and stays in that will hurt the GOP unless. He is Indicted and stays in and wins. Then it will look bad for the Dems because it will strengthen the idea it has all been just a witch hunt.

In the military it is understood that you have the right to disobey an āUnlawfulā order. This person saying He was only following orders, means 2 things, He needs written proof or otherwise to prove He was so ordered , and also Why He felt that it was the thing to do in carrying it out. Whatās going to happen is that in the near future most of these men are going to counter sue and claim they said those things because they were under āDURESSā to do so by The Prosecutions team.
I watched Hannity last night for obvious reasons and while I knew he would minimize and deflect it was pretty breathtaking to watch. Hannity who is a seasoned political observer has to realize that the revelation by Cohen is going to impact the President. Well we know he knows that but in his unofficial press secretary position he has to go all in supporting Trump.
Another observation I have of Hannity is he no longer refers to himself as a Reagan Conservative. How long will it be before he is using the term Trump Conservative?

An indictment could come quickly, the challenge to an indictment and the legal battles to determine if a sitting president can be indicted would take much longer.

I watched Hannity last night too, for the first time in a long, long time.
It was pretty loony from start to finish, but it got absolutely crackers when Levin came on talking about Cohen pleading guilty to crimes that did not exist.
It was the only show I would ever label fun and nerve wracking.

Huh? How would trump winning a 2nd term after being indicted strengthen the idea of it being a witch hunt? What does winning a 2nd term have anything to do with the legal validity of the indictment? All that would show is that Republicans donāt give a ā ā ā ā about the law
Yes they need to convince with actual Evidence that it was used. Because if it wasnāt actually used and Trumps team would have reasonable doubt that it was a campaign finance violation. So I doubt Mueller would post an Indictment if he goes forward with out actually knowing if it was or wasnāt.
Of course the timing is suspect. But lots of people come out of the wood work when people run for office to get quick money from candidates to silence the accusations.
I think most people know that.
