Not everyone just white people . That aside… the training is to harsh and thus will not get consumed. The intention may have been educational but the delivery was adversarial. I would be the first to advocate against training that tells someone to be less “insert race here”
Is it acceptable to say? Not really. However history tells us that exactly what happens. Jamal’s don’t get their resumes looked at… dreadlocks aren’t allowed for workplaces or wrestling matches. Etc.
Coke paid for access to a library of training. 60k employees don’t all have the same training needs and desires. Have a training library actually cuts down costs of training because employees can take them while sitting at their desk and don’t need to travel to in person.
I bet coke also has an internal training site for the important stuff (harassment/workplace violence/cyber)
Eric D. July, aka Young Rippa59, is on several social media platforms, including YouTube. He’s a black man from Dallas who reserves his most choice words and insults like “crackheads” for young, white liberals. If not young, doesn’t Robin diAngelo fit the description of white liberal?
Although EDJ cites conservative Thomas Sowell more often, Malcolm X felt the same about them. Somehow I’m not seeing nonwhite or outside the U S born & raised employees—some of whom are working two jobs—enthusiastic about more diversity training.
I’m reminded of the scene from The Life of Brian where Brian is telling the audience that they’re all individuals, all unique, and they respond in near total unison repeating his words back at him and agreeing … only one guy rejects the teaching loudly saying that he’s not.
