CNN: Trump acknowledges ‘inflation is back’ but blames Biden

He’s right, (well the Fed has a LOT more todo with inflation that presidents and congress, but setting that aside for now), these two points remain:

  1. He’s right, and
  2. 6-12 months from now he’s gonna own it
    no matter who caused it.

President Donald Trump, in an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity that aired Tuesday night, acknowledged that inflation is on the rise again — bucking his campaign promise to lower prices immediately upon taking office. But he said the Biden administration’s runaway spending is to blame.

“Inflation is back,” Trump said. “I had nothing to do with it. These people have — have run the country. They spent money like nobody has ever spent.”

Trump is right about the return of inflation: Consumer prices rose much more than expected last month, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported last week — buoyed in particular by surging fuel and egg prices. January marked the biggest monthly increase since August 2023. And prices were 3% higher year-over-year for the first time since June 2024.

The president is also right that he can’t shoulder much of the blame: Former President Joe Biden occupied the Oval Office for 19 ½ of the 31 days covered by the most recent report. . . . .

I agree its too early in his administration for him to be blamed for inflation but once we get to the mid point of the year it will be a different story. This applies to a lot of promises he made.

Crazy we are already heading into March. Time is speeding up!!!

I actually have a theory as to why time seems to speed up as we get older.

I believe it is because our perspective of a year changes over our lifetime. For example our perspective of a year at 20 is that it is 1/20th of our life whereas or perspective of a year at 50 is 1/50th of our life so it seems as though years are getting shorter.

Just my 2 cents.

Of course it is Biden’s inflation after 4 years of wild/crazed out of control spending.

Trump has only been in a month.

Obama was blaming Bush for years about such things.

With the libs approval of course.

“Prices will come down,” Trump told voters during a speech last week laying out his vision for a return to the White House. “You just watch: They’ll come down, and they’ll come down fast, not only with insurance, with everything.”

“Prices will come down and come down dramatically and come down fast,” he said.

Yeah.

Ummmmmmm.

Been a month and 4 days.

But trump exploding the deficit was great economic policy and lowered inflation?

Trump said prices would “come down fast,” but instead, they’re rising. Despite all the other rhetoric, inflation is why Trump won and why people will quickly turn on his administration if he can’t deliver.

What is “fast,” in your opinion?

And you guys calling the first Trump admin a boom years while calling Obama second term with the same economic numbers as the worst recovery ever

Also what about the Trump effect. None on inflation?

Trump effect?!?!

All this helicopter money is gonna go somewhere
(stocks, bonds, crypto consumer items . . . bananas taped to walls?)

And wherever it goes the increased demand will result in increased prices.

So when Trump said in August that prices will “come down fast” if he was elected, what was your reaction?

:rofl::joy::rofl::joy:

1st it’s been a month

2nd inflation is only one reason Trump won.

Among other reasons are, the borders, the wars, all the woke garbage permeating our government institutions including schools, DEI, to name just a few.

But I can see you are just chomping at the bit to label the Trump admin a failure (s month in :rofl:)

How amusing.

You forgot to mention eggs. Your narrative outline says to mention eggs.

That’s not all an increase in the numerator, M2 (which the Fed doesn’t print). It’s as much a decline in the denominator.

Nice to see who is rooting for high prices to continue just so they can hate on Trump some more.

Pathetic.

Inflation is the main reason he won and it isn’t close.

Trump said prices would “come down fast.” Was he lying or misinformed?

Only in your head.

My number one was to stop the fliw of illegals into this country. Which he has pretty much done.

Define “fast”.

What makes your definition of “fast” more valid than someone else’s?

Clue: IT ISN’T

Rising costs were top of mind as voters cast their ballots in the 2024 presidential election. According to exit polls from CBS News, 75% of voters reported that inflation had caused moderate or severe hardship for them over the past year, with 45% saying they were worse off now than they were four years ago.

You first.
