Chloroquine and Hydroxychloroquine Coronavirus cures?

Huh? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

I meant:

ā€œThis drug was used on the first US patient in Everett, WA. It proved effective.ā€

I have seen they may have used it in cases, and clinical trials being done, but not THAT.

Forcefield: seems like our last couple posts on this topic have been deleted. Ideas re: why? By whom?

Same thing happened yesterday on another post that you and I were discussing - entire topic was deleted.

Mods. I’m sure it’s me, not you.

I’m wondering why there’s all this resistance to this treatment? It’s not a mystery where this came from. Chinese and South Korean doctors first started using it effectively. S.Korea added it to their recommended guidelines. Their research has influenced the treatment regimens Western doctors are doing. Johns Hopkins published a study just last Friday (3/13) about it. A French study was released this week. There are several other studies going on right now. All have shown very good outcomes. Doctors in NYC are using it now to treat patients with an antibiotic.

So why are so many people poo-pooing the idea? Is partisan hatred that acute that ANYTHING positive must absolutely be condemned? Are people really that petty and obtuse? I was watching Fox and MSNBC tonight. The difference between the tones in both was stark. MSNBC was so grim the viewer had zero hope of survival. An hour of that, and even I wanted to drive to the nearest cemetery and crawl in. Fox was serious but hopeful. I felt like there was something bright on the horizon.

There are issues to consider. Chloroquin in certain dosages does have negative side effects. It is not in wide supply in the US. But these can be managed. Especially if our private companies can retool and ramp up production of necessary medical equipment.

I hate to say it, but I can see it would be just awful for some if this adminstration can provide a successful treatment and save the country from near ruin. Better to have everyone remain in a state of fear for a year or more until some miraculous vaccine is delivered (out of a grueling and redundant FDA approval process).

I have not been impressed with Fauci. I’m sure he’s a good doctor, but he’s a lousy front man. When this is over I don’t see him around long.

The major side effect I heard about was ulcers, and there is some debate about whether its actually the drug that causes them.

The first trial shows that it actually does cure the virus in 100% of the patients treated.

You are correct, welcome back.

No these arent proven to work yet.

Because why?he doesnt tow the line? More people trust him than trump.

100% cure rate in the first trial.

Only with long term use for chronic malaria patients and those taking it prophylactically for long duration from what I can find.

No longer true. A 40 patient trial in France had 100% success, to the point all 40 declared cured.

How do you know that the drugs are responsible?

Just for clarification: how many people were involved in the trial?
