The Chinese Communist government is freaking out about the viral “lying-flat” movement. The movement has developed as a form of apathetic protest against grueling working conditions and a corrupt dictatorial government.
Ironically the government’s internet purge of any content related to the movement simply confirms the basic premise. As with the Soviet Union in the 1980s, the biggest threat to the regime may come from people recognizing the lies and corruption to the point where the system collapses under its own weight.
