Honesty is always the best policy. The first step is admitting to the problem. I can’t think of any more cliches right this minute :upside_down_face:

US policy is based on two contradictory ideas:

  1. The Cuban government is an evil entrenched dictatorship that cares nothing about the welfare of its people.

  2. Using sanctions to destroy the economy and starve the population of Cuba will force changes in the government.

The reality is that economic sanctions almost never result in regime change. That is especially true if the government is an entrenched dictatorship.

We saw that in Iraq where the Hussein regime continued in spite of years of starvation of the population under US sanctions and the 1991 invasion. Only the 2003 invasion and military occupation changed that.

Name one issue that I have reversed my position on based on the political climate,

The subject was the Clintons … in fact it was you who brought them into it. So now you’re gunna play whatabout? Classic Allan.

hypocrite doesn’t mean reversed. Choosing to what to pay attention to is also hypocrisy. As you pointed out yourself

Then feel free to post an example of whatever it is that you are insinuating that I’m guilty of.

I really don’t think WW2 is the example you think it is.

In the same roundabout way we are responsible for the Ayatollah.

Never said we weren’t. The wheels of history are chock full of mud we didn’t like or intend to happen with our own decisions.

and so what if he is, better to be the hegemon than the hegomie

Jimmy Carter is responsible for that, Trump is fixing it

Our mistake was listening to the Phrench, a mistake we have not repeated.
