The decline began in 2019
(so I guess we can’t blame the usual suspects)

The blame the D or the R thing has always been lame. The economy transcends Presidencies.

The President can, of course, influence in a negative way (but never positive way) economic trends, but generally the results of these influences can lag the President by several years.

We blame the guy in office (Carter, Reagan, Bush I & II, Clinton, Obama, Trump or Biden) when it may or may not actually be attributable to him.

In some cases, the effects of Presidential actions, such as Operation Ajax, may lag the President by multiple decades.

I can blame Fauci and Birx and all the Dem governor who needlessly shutdown the economy for a flu.

In spite of this…

Trump is poised to return.

Correct

Also, because the decline began in 2019 it would be tough to blame COVID.

The hits just keep on coming. Real income declines for 3rd straight year under Biden!

#bidenomics

What happen at the tail en of 2018…who came to power in 2019?

And yes we CAN blame democrats.
