Sports has always had politics. It’s probably easy to miss it or at least overlook as long as you agree with the politics.

Trump drove around Daytona in February of this year.
I’m guessing the people outraged now weren’t outraged then.
Look at old horse racing (Andrew Jackson, nullifier), baseball integration, South Africa sporting boycott, 1980 Moscow Olympics boycott, 2011 and 2012 Bahrain Grand Prix for other examples out of many. Plenty of individual athletes as well.
I guess if it bothers someone that much, and they can’t mute the TV or look away for the few seconds to minutes it’s even on there, cancellation seems like the only option.
