Fort Gordon officially became Fort Eisenhower today (Friday 10/27).
With that, the United States Military is officially Confederacy free.

Yes … Honor. That’s what we are discussing when we talk about changing the names of Army Posts named in honor of Confederate Officers. Fort Gordon was named to honor CSA Major General John B. Gordon. Now it’s named to honor USA General of the Army Dwight D. Eisenhower. Get it? Honor.

The news that another confederate general is no longer honored by having a military base named after them.

If those Forts were not named for those CSA Generals to honor them, why were they so named?
