I believe the economy is not as healthy as most people think.
News like this makes me think I should perhaps reconsider my position.

Anyway.
The US workforce is a LOT larger than it was circa 1968.
One would expect the number of initial jobless claims would be higher on average than 68, 78, 88, 98, etc.
Instead, it is approaching an all-time low.
People not getting laid off is always great news
What I think we were supposed to learn from the Biden era is, even when the numbers are really solid, that doesn’t mean the daily economy americans are expereincing

Me, I’ve thought the economy has been pretty solid for years, and is still humming along nicely (except for about 4 months of goofiness triggered by independence day). But my personal economy is driven by a company that services the top 10% of wage earners in the US, so…

@Gaius appears to be saying that every time the jobless claims hit a certain low point, they skyrocket upwards shortly after. His graph supports the trend.

I was saying that is what used to happen during recession.
This time jobless claims are down and staying down.
They are down as low as they were when the workforce was a LOT smaller.
