Breaking: House Ways and Means committee requesting the IRS copies of trump’s tax returns

Personal, private information has nothing to do with transparency in government.

If the Executive Branch is making decisions that personally enrich the man making those decisions, then it most certainly does.

That is similar to proposing a bill that candidates must provide their tax returns in order to run for President, not similar to subpoenaing a specific candidates tax returns. There is a difference.
Also, there is a constitutional basis for being a US citizen to be President, there is no Constitutional requirement regarding ones taxes.
Find Obama’s name in that proposed bill…you can’t.

The statute protects the privacy of the taxpayer. The returns can not be disclosed without the consent of the taxpayer.

So this is a criminal investigation, to follow up where the collusion investigation failed? Fine. This time lets start with a specific criminal action and probable cause instead of internet based rumors and biases.
You’ve had your shot and failed.
This is beginning to look embarrassing.

There was sworn testimony to Congress alleging that the President has commited bank and insurance fraud.

No internet rumor needed.

If what you say is true; why would any Trump supporter be so vociferous in complaining about the actions of the Democrats?

The house ways and means committee does not need to justify their request of tax records. No criminal investigation is required. Read the letter… legislative proposals…

Beat me to it. This is exactly correct.

Additionally, @DougBH why are you concerned with Congress engaging in oversight of the Executive? If it is embarrassing and will backfire on Democrats, shouldn’t you be applauding this as it will help your team? I mean, it is not like the Republicans don’t do the exact same thing when they are in power. Heck, Graham in the Senate is wanting to use their oversight role to re-investigate Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, and they are not even in office any longer.

Are you saying there should have been no investigation? We know Russians interfered with our election. Shouldn’t that be investigated?

Not if it affects a Republican.

I read a bunch of different boards. I think I found some of recently.

They weren’t talking about fiscal stuff though. But, man, they sounded just like those guys.

The 2016 election is over. It can’t be undone. We’ve even had another election since then.

Thanks for playing though.

So you believe Hillary is guilty despite the (multiple) investigations just like (some) libs think Trump is guilty despite the investigation?

What a weird assertion…

Even if Trump is impeached… we still have Pence. How exactly would Dems undue the election again?

Goalposts are moving…

Yeah, I was scratching my head when I saw that. I would think that a President Pence could be even worse for dems than Trump. Trump has a hell of a lot more baggage than Pence.

Honestly, the worst thing about Pence is that he is a lapdog for Trump under the current setup. Remove Trump, and that problem would be eliminated. It’s a bizarre conspiracy theory to be sure.

There is no subpoena for Trump’s taxes.

:joy:

No expects you to care about any of this. Your participation here is meaningless.
