Apparently
“came here legally under some program”
does not mean
“Constitutionally entitled to stay here forever and there is nothing any government act can ever do about it.”
Yep. And only Sotomayer and Jackson dissented. I cant see the court doing this if they didn’t know how this was going to end. ICE is going to need that extra funding soon…unless most decide to self deport.
They were allowed in under false pretexts that it was necessary to stop the flow of illegals. There is no purpose in their being here other that an intended fait accompli by whoever ran the Biden administration to get past the immigration laws.
And they can have no expectation to stay here unless they did not understand the meaning of “temporary”.
We’re unending people’s lives here for what? So restaurants have to struggle with labor shortages even more than they do now? So the cost of a sheetrock job goes up 30%?
I don’t get it. I don’t see how it’s in our own best interest.
Seems like cruelty is once again the point of it all.
The litigation over this isn’t over. The lower court had ordered a stay against the Trump administration removing protections pending completion of the litigation. The Supreme Court reversed that stay, so the Trump administration can remove tps while the trial is decided. IMO, they wouldn’t remove that stay unless they knew that their final decision would be that Trump could end tps. What sense would it make to remove their legal status, prohibit them from working, and start deportations if you thought there was a chance you were going to later decide the tps couldnt be removed?
