An unidentified man was stabbed in the middle of London’s bustling tourist center Monday night; shocking onlookers as he was immediately airlifted to receive medical treatment following the unprovoked attack.
According to the Sun, the assault took place in the heart of the London’s Leicester Square just before 5pm, with eyewitnesses saying the man -believed to be in his 40s- was treated by paramedics on the scene before being rushed away in a helicopter.
“Specialist cops arrested a man over the incident and he is currently being quizzed in custody. Officers confirmed a weapon was seized at the scene,” writes the Sun.
The attack raises serious questions about security throughout the United Kingdom, with murder rates rising approximately 40% in just three years.
Earlier this year, London Mayor Sadiq Khan vowed to crackdown on the spike in violence, blaming “budget cuts” for the escalating crisis.
