Black supremacist Darrell Brooks, Jr. was found guilty of intentional homicide on Wednesday morning, after he rammed into a Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin in November of 2021, killing six people and injuring dozens of others. Zerohedge
Brooks has a history of violent anti-White rhetoric, and he appears to have specifically targeted Whites in the attack on the Christmas parade.
In the past, the federal government has sought convictions on federal charges for racially motivated murders. For example, mass murderer Dylann Roof was sentenced to death in federal court even before a state court had given him nine consecutive life sentences.
What should happen to the Dallas man who faces federal hate crimes charges even though he was already convicted of murder under Texas law? Should his charges be dropped?
Civil Rights laws were never intended as a long term double jeopardy measure.
They were intended as a backstop in the days when either States did not prosecute racial crimes or did so in a sham way, with no intention of actually convicting the defendant. Also as a backstop against sham juries composed of white supremacists. And cases where unreasonably lenient sentences were imposed.
By and large, that is an extremely rare occurrence.
Federal Civil Rights prosecutions should only be brought if it can be shown that there was an unmistakable miscarriage of justice in the State courts.
Interestingly, defendants are actually FAVORED by these parallel Federal sentences, as it allows them to serve their time in safer and more comfortable Federal prisons.
Dylann Roof was already sentence to death under federal charges even before there was a verdict on state charges.
If cases such as those of Darrell Brooks do not face federal charges, can Roof claim that his federal conviction was an example of racial discrimination?
Racially driven white-on-black crimes are treated differently than black-on-white?
No. IMO charging someone with a crime because of their motive on top of the actual crime is akin to double jeopardy. The concept of hate crimes is (again, IMO) unconstitutional.
Brooks is evil. He killed indiscriminately then blamed it on the inanimate object, the vehicle. Sound familiar? His defense plan is to disrupt the court proceedings, infuriate the judge, perhaps sow doubt in one or two jurors and hope for a mistrial.
He’s developed a plan and methodology. Again, a cold and calculating killer.
No the “entire media” didn’t lie about that…,that was an initial report that the Waukesha police chief quickly debunked.
You really need to stop imagining conspiracies under every bed, and stop listening to people online that tell you there are conspiracies under every bed.
One media comes up with a theme and other like minded media follow the lead. It was the media came up with the idea that the riot on January 6 was an insurrection and this was quickly followed by other media. Whether you want to call that a conspiracy or not is up to you.
