Birth Control and Minor Youth

A great example of parenting and being involved in your children’s lives. That kind of involvement is what all children need from their parents :+1:

Where was the peer pressure? In Johnny’s mind?

Not sure how “most of the time” got skipped in my post.

You are doing it again.

Constantly trying to make the exception the rule?

Honesty Watch™

No constantly saying to stop assuming.

Peer pressure effects hormones more often than it does sphincter control. That’s the point of most of the time

You were the fine who used an exception to the rule as an example

Hormones makes teenagers stupid. Instant gratification and fomo makes people without self control (including adults) stupid. That’s the difference.

Doesn’t mean that teenagers can’t control themselves. Plenty do. Just means that they are more susceptible or less likely to act sensibly.

Again “less likel”not “can’t.”

Oooh. Skeery.

You have been on my “Contrarian watch” for years. So i guess it’s only fair.

Prove it.

Stop :joy:.

It’s an opinion. That’s why i am discussing it

Prove it!?!!!

It’s stated as a fact.

Can young people control themselves or are they just rutting pigs?

They can absolutely control themselves.

It’s difficult to constantly write imo. I guess if i were arguing facts i would start posting links or start pointing in the direction of where to look. That’s the only way i have found to differentiate between the two ways to present my position.

Then why aren’t they?

Why do you think they don’t?

Social acceptance? Schools stepping into parent roles and hiding things from parents?
Parents being told they have no rights when it comes to their children?
Laws allowing children to obtain birth control medications without parental consent?

You think kids know that?

Copious reasons.

Bad parenting is on there but so are other factors.

Plus sex feels good, and their brains aren’t fully formed.

Guys, there is no mystery here. Kids have sex, sometimes even the ‘best’ kids. Same with drugs, same with drinking.

That is why it is short sighted to limit access to contraception. If they want to have sex, they’re going to have sex and hope for the best.

The New Sensibility.

Such as?

Same as forever and ever. Same reason why teenage pregnancy spiked in the 90s and has been rising since the 70s. Same reason why it dropped off a cliff once social media began to take hold - sometimes brain development resulting in need for instant gratification which overrides learned controls, sometimes rebellion against all control, sometimes poor teaching of control, sometimes etc. most of it based on an incompletely developed brain. We are barely human once puberty hits.
