Big Beautiful Bill gets more beautiful

If only snapping one’s fingers could undo years of out-of-control spending.

Most polls have public opinion of the bill under water.

and the more people know about what’s in it, the higher the likelyhood they oppose it.

We’re going to have to pass the bill so people can see what’s in it. The party of fiscal responsibility strikes again, adding 3.5T to the deficit without even accounting for interest on that new debt.

2020 Deficit: 3.13 Trillion dollars ← Trump
2021 Deficit: 2.77 Trillion ← Biden, on Trump budget
2022 Deficit: 1.38 Trillion ← Biden
2024 Deficit: 1.84 Trillion ← Biden

And yet, that’s exactly what sacred california is also doing to balance its budget.

I’m still wondering how the big beautiful bill handles overtime. Is it all pay over 40 hours? Or is it just tax on the time and a half? I’m guessing the latter is more likely.

Illegal immigrants aren’t eligible for Medicaid.

:joy:. good one

Insulting the voters rather than actually offering Americans something they want. It failed before, it will fail again.

Already been discussed at length. The bipartisan COVID stimulus was responsible for Trump’s deficit increase. There is controversy as to whether the second COVID stimulus was necessary under Biden.

so to say “Biden raised the debt my massive amounts” is just saying he reduced the deficit? OK then.

As I stated, there is context you are intentionally ignoring. This was discussed at length in an earlier thread.

I’m not ignoring anything. The claim doesn’t stand up to daylight.

That is blantanly false. His deficit and debt spiked before the covid stimulus. THe covid stimulus probbaly doubled it. But he was still at 1.5 - 2 t before covid. This conversation was already had so you can skim it wherever you saw it

He raised the deficit by 4T before covid.

In March 2020 the 2.2 trillion-dollar bipartisan CARES act was passed. Subtracting that from 3.13 trillion leaves .93 trillion. Slightly less than the year before.

Show me.

Correct. The deficit was close to a trilion fine. And then was running at 8 percent above that until march happened

Sorry - I meant debt.

Deficits in the coming years are already projected at between 1.7 and 2.5 T per year - before this bill adds another ~350 to 400B per year.

The party of fiscal constraint strikes again! The same party that ran on balancing the budget.
