This has been in the works for a while. The mechanism to start accomplishing this was passed in the IRA. Then, it takes time to do the actual work of negotiating.
“We will have tougher negotiation, more competition and much lower prices at the pharmacy counter,” Trump said in a Rose Garden address that was closely watched by drug companies and patient groups. “And it will start to take effect very soon.”
The last administration was content to just talk big and forget about it. The Biden-Harris administration has moved quite swiftly in comparison.
Medicare Part A or B does not pay for prescription drugs and a laundry list of other medical needs including dent, vision, hearing PT, mental health etc etc
You have to purchase a “supplemental plan” or Part D to cover those expenses and the 20% of doctors Part B doesn’t cover.
The wife and I use a Humana PPO plan. Most RX are $0. Except for a blood thinner for me but it’s affordable. Humana costs $50.00/ month for both of us and the Rx savings alone is well worth it.
Statement like “Reduced Medicare prescriptions” is a misleading statement.
Medicare A&B is deducted from your SS benefits EVERY month and remember, as wage earners we contributed to Medicare EVERY paycheck.
Prescriptions are paid for as explained above
The goobermint is bastardizing Medicare giving Medicare and Medicaid benefits to illegal invaders who never paid in. So ■■■■ them.
As a poster suggested above. Big Pharma is either going to discontinue meds that they can’t be profitable making or the supply will dwindle.
But you’re perfectly comfortable with Harris’ lying about her role in the southern border disaster, an Israeli arms embargo, the denials of Joe Biden’s cognitive decline, defunding police, the elimination of ICE, fracking etc etc and etc?
I’m not arguing that Congress should have a role in this or not or that this is not a good thing. I’m simply not going to shout to the mountains how great Biden/Harris is when there was eight years of Obama/Biden that didn’t do this.
