I think it’s terrible that she had to wait for that treatment. I honestly don’t know how you go about getting monoclonal anti-bodies…does her doctor prescribe it, and then they have to get approval from the cdc? Are they being rationed?
I know one person who got but he has a pre-existing lung condition.

She was very ill but sent home from the hospital. Told if her oxygen levels dipped below a certain point she could come back.
No treatments given at all. We, at the office, encouraged her to get with her doctor to get the monoclonal treatment. She knew nothing about it.
She had to be approved for the process which takes time. I’m not sure what that process is…as it continues to change.
Currently, my understanding is it is starting to be rationed so that States can have their “fair share” even if not really ordering it.
I think we as intelligent people, need to understand that the vax is a first and important step. However, we will eventually have to see there are uses in treatments as well. The virus is going to make the vaccine pretty much obsolete as it continues to mutate.
We’ve been developing treatments since the virus hit. It’s encouraging that we have effectiveness now, but yes, first line of defense is vaccination.
Third dose seems to help against delta. Heard a virologist on the radio talking about how he always predicted a 3rd does because the first two were relatively close together out of nessecity to get a to of people ‘fully’ vaccinated. But with most vaccines, increasing the time between doses increases durability.
Also heard someone talking about a vaccine in development that will address any possible variant? Maybe on 60 minutes last week?
And this is how misinformation spreads.

I’d love to see clear and concise information but it would appear the science lags behind the virus. Which I can understand.
Therefore, I can also understand folks doing their own research trying to stay ahead of the science. I cannot really blame them. By the time variant X is out they are still on variant B.
I would love if instead of finger pointing we all come together. Letting migrant carrying variants and spreading them isn’t too helpful, is is? Can we agree on that?
This has to be a non political issue in order for us to make positive strides. No, we are not going to conquer it. But we can do better when we work together, right?

Your position is more precisely focused than mine, which is a response to what I see as misuse of the word collective; conflating simple, necessary collective needs with socialism. Pure, unadulterated free market democracies still have collective needs. Not a dirty word.
