“The three inmates not included are: Robert Bowers, who is responsible for the mass shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue in 2018, which left 11 people dead; Dylann Roof, a White supremacist who killed nine Black parishioners at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina, in 2015; and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who worked with his now-dead brother to perpetuate the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing that killed three people and injured hundreds.“
should have commuted them all to life to without parole.
but it stops most of the executions in their tracks. a really good idea.
considering that trump in his upcoming term would have let the executions go on as planned.
As someone opposed to the death penalty, this Biden move doesn’t impact me. I’m with you on this one.
I do cringe a bit at the timing of this, right before Christmas, thinking of the families of the victims of those criminals. But I also recognize that this is lame-duck-president pardon season. It happens to coincide with the Holidays. (Maybe it could have waited until some time in January though.)
My only question is who actually made the decision to pardon.
They would prefer this over death! Most jails have XBox and PS5 in each cell. In some penitentiaries it’s a vacation because living in the real world is harder. 3 hots and a cot. When you do what they did, life is not warranted on their end. Ask the AME church if they like this.
