Ben Sasse has stage 4 pancreatic cancer and is going to die

May God bring peace to all who love him and may his memory be a blessing. 53 is just way too young. Count your blessings and hug your children.

“gonna die” as the children at cnn put in their headline.

anyway just awful. for anyone

To be fair that’s an exact quote from Sasser. But yes, it did NOT need to be in the headline.

Yes, awful for all involved.

Seriously. Way too many people taken way too early.

This is one place where I could get behind RFK’s efforts to change our relationship with food and exercise, two things that can reduce the likelihood of many cancers. I do not claim to know if Sasser’s cancer falls into that category and it doesn’t change the loss.

Though to be fair, Breitbart also quoted him

Good food and activity are good, but people who also allow their bodies to intermittently go into autophagy will almost certainly never have to worry about getting it.

cnn’s is worse. no colons. the way they worked it into the headline without it being an obvious quote….their delight in it is palpable. they’re children, haters of the first order

Lmao I figured you would respond like that. They are both quoting what he said. Nothing to get in a tizz about.

No one is giddy at the thought of his death.

not in the same way

i’m not “lmao” because i’m an adult and am saddened by this. cnn has a tone. that’s their way. always has been.

Oh please, if your critical of CNN tone then you have to be critical of breitbart, the quotation marks make no difference.

But its okay i figured you would find a way to spin it. :+1:

as i said it’s not the same.

anyway keep laughing your ass off

Certainly cancer has been around for a long time. I think we reduce our risks by doing some things, and increase our risks by doing others. And likely there are countless factors and exposures in our day-to-day lives that we take for granted but may very well be increasing our vulnerability to various cancers.

And if we listen to every factor someone theorizes about, we would force ourselves into a fetal position in a basement corner waiting for one of them to get us.

And I’m with you, @SixFoot . ■■■■ Cancer. I’ve seen it take down people you would never expect to get it. Sometimes odd cancers. Sometimes quick. Sometimes agonizingly prolonged. You can sort of predict cancer for people who immerse themselves in given practices and behaviors. But it also hits some you would never expect. Random. Ben Sasse probably never expected it.

How very sad. One of the more likeable people in politics. Prayers to him and his family.

Pancreatic cancer is as Senator Sasse put it, a death sentence. I watched an uncle waste away and die a painful death from the same diagnosis. My father died of stomach cancer at age 51 existing on morphine injections, zonked out then waking up and screaming for a shot during the last weeks of his life. A friend of mine for over 50 years is now slowly dying from a bone cancer that has spread to his heart, lungs and other internal organs. He is living a tortured, agonizing and painful slow death. He is in home hospice care and pain meds barely give relief. My last visit a few days ago he stoped talking and said: “I wish I could just die”. He’s alone, never married and has no children. He has a brother and a sister who visit maybe twice a month.
Cancer is a relentless mother â– â– â– â– â– â– â–

Well anyway happy christmas hope you have a good one.

I find the smell of diesel exhaust to be pleasant.
