I would note that Trump’s final confirmation came on December 20, 2020 and it is likely that Democrats will also work well into the lame duck period, regardless of whether Trump or Harris wins.
Biden is only 1 judge behind Trump, so he has a shot at tying or beating Trump in number of overall appointments, but even if he doesn’t, he will end up very close behind.
Yeah I was looking at that. If they can make it through the ones who have already been nominated we’re looking at Biden getting through 190 District judges and 49 Circuit court judges. Which is pretty impressive.
I took a look at George W. Bush’s list of Judges, found here:
A very large percentage of his appointees have already gone senior, including a significant number who have taken senior status during the Biden administration.
Not all appointees are concerned with who succeeds them and simply retire or take senior status as soon as they meet the requirements (at least age 65, at least 10 years of service and age plus years of service = 80).
Currently voting on confirmation on Biden’s 162nd District Judge and 208th Article III nominee overall. Since Trump had no confirmations on September 11th, 2020, this will put Biden back into an overall tie with Trump for overall pace of nominations, with 208 each as of September 11th of the fourth year.
