Article III (and some Article I) judicial renominations finally made today

51 renominations in this group, but a number of nominations that expired in the previous Congress were NOT renominated, most notably Thomas Farr to the Eastern District of North Carolina. Senator Burr is still trying to shove this nominee down people’s throats, but hopefully the White House Counsel’s Office has wised up and will kill this nomination for good.

His Wikipedia article has a good summary of his vote suppression activities, dating back to his days with Jesse Helms and continuing forward to his assistance to the North Carolina Legislature during the 2010 redistricting cycle.

Simply put, his activities are over the top and he has never changed his stripes.

Hopefully, the White House Counsel’s Office stands up to Senator Burr and makes him send up somebody more acceptable. They have found acceptable nominees for the Middle and Western Districts of North Carolina, surely they can find one in the Eastern District.

Just my opinion, but it seems foolish to waste a life time appointment on someone who, for most positions, would be entering retirement age.

I’m shocked… SHOCKED… to see a republican senator pushing someone for a federal judgeship with such a record.
