Nancy Pelosi’s dire prediction of “armageddon” continued to collapse this week, with the number of Americans receiving Supplemental Nutritional Assistance -better known as food stamps- plunging to the lowest levels in over eight years.

According to Fox News, “overall enrollment” in the SNAP program plummeted to levels not seen since February 2010 on Monday, with just over 40 million Americans receiving food stamps and other food assistance programs.

“As the economy continues to improve, participation in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is declining,” a USDA official who asked for anonymity told Fox News. “SNAP was established as a temporary supplemental nutrition benefit guiding people to self-sufficiency and self-reliance, not a permanent way of life.”

The statistics come as the unemployment rate continues to fall and jobless claims drop to their lowest levels in nearly 45 years; sparking new fears for Democrats hoping to retake control of Congress this November.
