Here is where I think a president (and/or other leadesr) can be effective in changing society. S/he doesn’t have to do it by government initiative. He has the daily stage. He could make the argument that kids under 16 shouldn’t be on Social Media, and then let that discussion ensue in the public square. He can add his two cents to sway the discussion – to change hearts.
And that doesn’t hold just for 16-year-olds and social media. We’ve had riffs in multiple threads about unwed mothers and the plight of single parent kids in society. A president could use the daily microphone to press the message that this is not healthy for our nation. It’s not healthy for humanity in general. Trigger the discussion. Press the discussion.
Hmmm…not sure he isn’t thinking Govt. should be invovled.
He said this about stopping kids from using social media:
“This is something that we can both agree on,” he continued. “And we can revive both the mental health of this country while stopping the fentanyl epidemic.”
The conservative entrepreneur criticized social media platforms while addressing concerns about fentanyl smuggling across the U.S.-Mexico border. He pointed to the story of an Iowa teenager who died after purchasing percocet on Snapchat that was laced with fentanyl.
“I refuse to be a passive bystander, sitting in the White House like the hollowed-out husk of a current president we have,” Ramaswamy added. “We will step up and address this problem to stand for Americans and our children.”
“Immigration enforcement in the interior of the country has dropped dramatically under President Biden’s policies. These policies have exempted nearly all but the most serious criminal aliens from arrest and removal and have imposed cumbersome new procedures and paperwork for ICE officers to complete cases.“
