Another mass shooting

It was a simple question.

Does the bill of rights apply at the state level or doesn’t it?

That was the “compromise”!

How do you think we got “Jim Crow”?

And some turned a “blind eye” to what was happening?

Studying the history!

So, you recognize the sarcasm, good.

So your answer is “Yes the bill of rights applies to states”?

Great if so. I agree. It also means New York’s gun restrictions are illegal.

just because theres no easy obvious answer to the real problem (mental illness) doesnt mean more useless gun laws will help

OMG!

NO it didn’t apply to states!

That HOW we got JIM CROW!

Are you being purposely obtuse?

Or am I NOT being CLEAR?

No. But you are being obtuse.

Applying the Bill of Rights to the states is how we got rid of those laws.

Your post defending the laws and New York is the argument needed to support Jim Crow by stating that states don’t have to follow the bill of rights.

Islam is very anti gay and does not believe in abortion. That’s not quite the same thing as supporting Republican positions, it’s holding some of the same positions (although most Republicans are not anti gay they are merely anti special treatment for gays or, at most, against gay marriage … due to their religious beliefs. But they don’t throw them off rooftops like some Islamist are known to do.)

The Bill of Rights applied to anything FEDERAL!

I so wish someone more eloquent, more educated, more SOBER could come and EXPLAIN this to some of y’all…
I have lavender BUBBLES waiting and no desire to miss them debating!

OMG!

Getting into my tub!

Have a blessed night!

Enjoy your bubbles. Seriously.

No, like I said, I follow the law and am working to get them changed in my state, not to 1800’s rights or 1900’s or 2000’s, but the timeless rights endowed by our omnipresent creator.

Why do you feel the need to try to turn this into a race thing? It has absolutely nothing to do with race, but since you insist, I think it’d help the black communities in my state. We’re pushing for constitutional carry, which, if passed, will allow anyone over the age of 18 to carry a firearm on their person concealed or open carry. There would be no reason for law enforcement officers to take young black men to jail for carrying to protect themselves in crime ridden areas where they need protection.

So yeah, I want to do what I want, but I want other free people to do the same.

Your feelings are immaterial to my Constitutional rights.

That’s like saying that counties with few cars have fewer fatal automobile accidents.

Two follow up questions to that answer:

1: how does their homicide rate compare?
2: does their homicide rate include suicide like ours does?

#1 ensures we are comparing apples to apples, and #2 ensures we are counting uniformly.

No … you need someone to explain it to you. The Bill of Rights are incorporated. That means they apply universally to the States as well as the Federal Government. You can no more be denied a trial or prohibited from belonging to a church or denied possession of a gun by your State than you can by the Feds.
