Here is the latest map of the virus. See those little dots in the non-China countries? They’ve been pretty much the same for a couple weeks now. An initial breakout from the region (aided by the global travel network) followed by practically stasis everywhere except China. That’s not the sign of a virus about to go hog wild or one that (in one claim I heard) seems ready to infect 60% of the world’s population. Stay on top of it? Yes Fear it/panic over it/over hype it? Not in the slightes…

A massive pandemic is not necessarily a bad thing. Well, if your one of the victims it is. Just one of nature’s many ways of attempting to cull the herd. This could be one of the big ones like the 1918 influenza. Or not. Sooner or later, we will get a virus that culls out a good chunk of the human race before it is done. Lots of humans living in high density and lots of transportation vectors that spread the virus far and wide before anybody even realizes it exists.
