Why do you insist on misunderstanding me? I find what Nancy & company are doing to be absurd to the point of laughability. That does not mean what they are doing is not deadly to the English language and possibly the American soul. One can easily see that it is.

If you believe changing the wording of the House rules is deadly to the English language and the American soul then you are being dramatic and hyperbolic not to mention placing way too much importance on the House rules than was is warranted.

If you are only replacing the words where the gender is irrelevant, like in the House rules, the narrative will be fine. The effect will also be the same with any terrible Canadian novel as well.
