The trip, which was scheduled to last 11 minutes was delayed by all 6 repeatedly asking for directions.
Did they park well?
Punched a bigger hole in the ozone layer than all of their hairspray combined.
They were selected based on their qualifications.
They are not astronauts or pioneers. Just wealthy individuals going for a joy ride.
I heard Katy Perrys comments when they landed and she spouted crap about a sign from heavens and surrendered to the unknown.
The fawning over this group is a bit sickening but then its all part of the collective sickness society has with the worship of the “celebrity”.
Who did they ask for directions from?
And that is bad, why?
Why?? Are you jealous?
No mate, and its not bad but its certainly not some great achievement.
Did they burn up the engines by never checking their coolant level?
I knew this dog reminded me of someone!!
I’m with you on that.
While not great, it is a first.
They are per the definition of “astronaut.”
Not according to the Federal Aviation Administration, NASA or US military, which according to what I could find online, all have different requirements for individuals to be classified as astronauts.
By all means you are welcome to call the astronauts and I will be welcome to take the piss out of that
The dictionary definition of astronaut is anyone who has trained or traveled to space, so you can be an astronaut if you go through training and never actually leave Earth. NASA says, “the term “astronaut” derives from the Greek words meaning “star sailor,” and refers to all who have been launched as crew members aboard NASA spacecraft bound for orbit and beyond.” So I guess you could nitpick and say they didn’t launch on a “NASA spacecraft.”
So I would call them astronauts, but I agree with you that they aren’t pioneers, they’re rich space tourists.
I still fail to see why you seem to be so worked up over this. In the not-to-distant future, I see a lot more of this kind of activity. A sort of playground for the rich and famous. Why do you care?
I am not worked up at all. I was listening to the radio this morning and heard Perry being interviewed, then I saw the tongue in cheek thread started by @ohknow35.
I am rarely if ever worked up by an issue even if I make comments on this forum. All it means is that at that precise time For whatever reason a story has peaked my interest. Five minutes later I may never give it another thought which is the main reason why I drop out of threads, not because someone has intellectually bested me but because I have lost all interest and moved on.
Well space really ought to be for mankind as a whole, not a bunch of eccentric â– â– â– â– â– â– â– â– â– We should be working to democratize the entire enterprise.
