AI "religion" is attracting some sad people. Watch the video

This is to be expected because so many people are easily deceived about the true meaning of faith. They are saying CHAT GPT is alive and an omniscient God.

Whatever people put into it is what comes out. And it is easily manipulated.

Back in the 1960s a crude AI program was created to simulate a Rogerian therapist. The program would simply feed statements back as questions with emphasis to any mention of family.

The modern AI systems are massively more sophisticated, but they work under similar principles. Garbage in, garbage out is still the rule.

Yes. I had the Eliza program on a little Epsom PX8 laptop in 1984 the OS was CP/M-86. I was able to experiment with different versions. and rewrite the program. on a lisp compiler It turned therapy into cliches, but it was a sci-fi curiosity at the time. I figured people would realize it was just a toy.

A true believer rant.

And fake science

The “Magic Eight Ball” was an early attempt at AI. Artificial randomness. I wonder how many kids/people thought it was real?
