Undoubtedly some will stay Allan, but many will not precisely because they don’t have to. There are many other places for the rich to buy homes with wonderful views. My point was more about how stupid it is for people to trust in a man who promises to fund things on the backs of people who have the freedom to leave. Gavin tried that in California and he is the first governor to preside over a declining population in California. Something like 3 million people have fled the communist utopia he’s tried to set up there. This is not going to work out well for NY.

Here is a list of cities in the US, right now, that offer free public transportation…

Kansas City, Missouri: Became the first large U.S. city to offer systemwide fare-free service on its buses and streetcars.
Chapel Hill, North Carolina: Offers free fixed-route service funded by the university and the towns of Chapel Hill and Carrboro.
Boston, Massachusetts: Has implemented fare-free zones and routes as part of its public transit system.
Breckenridge, Colorado: Provides free transportation around the ski town with its “Free Ride” service.
Akron, Ohio: Has a fare-free bus system, as noted in various reports.
Alexandria, Virginia: Has also implemented a fare-free public transit program.
Bozeman, Montana: The “Streamline” bus service is a zero-fare option for residents.
Corvallis, Oregon: Offers free bus service as part of its public transit offerings

A few of these cities are in red states. I haven’t heard about homeless encampments on any of their busses, have you?

And cities often suffer from “food deserts”, where availability of fresh and healthy food can be limited in poorer areas. RFK Jr. is all about eating healthier, so why is there a problem with cities providing access? They aren’t going to sell at a loss, they are just providing local access to healthy food that grocer chains refuse to provide. NYC used to have stands all over the place providing produce and fresh meat, but they’re gone now. No reason not to bring them back.

Free busses is one of the many things Mamdani is promising to provide for free. There’s no such thing as free, there’s always a cost, and with everything Libs do, it’s never ever considered in advance ( like Obamacare for example) Free stuff promised by communists always costs citizens more than the benefits of the free stuff itself. Can’t wait to see how the “free” childcare works out and those wonderful government run grocery stores. What do you Libs think is going to be different about how communism works out here in America compared to every other places it’s been implemented? Spoiler Alert: NOTHING! it doesn’t work EVER!

Other than KC and Boston none of these cities are even close to the size of and potential ridership population of NYC. I’d be curious to find out how these municipalities create revenue and budget paying drivers and maintain their equipment and systems.

I agree, I just think there is ample meat on that bone and there will still be plenty left for the wealthy to continue their lifestyles without too much bother. Living in NYC has its benefits you know, there is a reason why the wealthy live there and not Long Island or Connecticut.

Fewer bones to trim means that more meat needs to be taken from each bone. There are limits.
