Aaron Rogers is a Steeler

I would have bet against this.

Should be fun. I hope the old guy doesn’t get hurt. Maybe if Tomlin gets booted he could be a player/coach…THAT would be fun.

Long time Steeler fan here since 1965. I’ve seen this team not have a chance to win a game to Chuck Noll’s first season at 1-13 to a six Super Bowl championship dynasty to a perennial mediocre practice team for real contenders.
My hope is Aaron Rogers stays healthy, is successful and is a credible voice revealing the ineptitude HC Mike Tomlin and his staff of buffoons have been perpetuating on the Steelers fans. Tomlin is a has been and hasn’t evolved with the NFL for over a decade. His players are under coached and ill prepared. His talent assessment is as poor as his discipline. Case in point, showboat out of control wide receivers who are talented but crazy. Ask yourself: “ would someone like Andy Reid tolerate that”?
Rogers and DK Metcalf have been working together and are being viewed as in the top of QB/ WR combos coming up. If Rogers calls out OL performances or coaching decisions publicly I will applaud. Art the Deuce is all in with his “Rooney Rule” HC. The fans are looking at the scoreboard .

Rogers being a player/coach would be about the worst possible outcome

Oh NO NO NO!

It would be ■■■■■■■ awesome.

Like Mario playing with Sydney or even better…

I mean if by you hate the Steelers lol then best possible outcome :joy:

Sportsworld would erupt with excitement over the potential.

I would see him as a backup QB calling plays and managing the field.

Very fun and innovative.

:football:

The rest of the NFL trying to get Rogers to blink.

I don’t know many jets game you watched and sure it’s the Jets and i actually have no beef with Rogers but he is a shell of what he used to be

I don’t see him starting ahead of Rudolf.

He is there as a mentor…so make him a QB coach too. Keep him on the roster and the rookie QB they drafted on the reserve roster.

I am not convinced the offensive line could protect Rogers well enough to avoid injury.

This is a very un-Steeler move. So I am going to have fun with it…

Now we need the NFL equivalent of these guys…

There is zero chance of the Steelers signing Rogers for him to be back up.

Memes.

Rogers is toast, he should have retired two years ago.

I have so much reading I want to catch up on. I joked with my wife that if only I were laid up with an injury of some sort, I’d have the time to do that reading.

Maybe that Rogers’ plan. Get injured in the first game. Collect another year of mega millions salary, and binge watch all the netflix he has been wanting to see.

Not a bad plan! He looked like a statue last season and he hasn’t gotten any younger since then. I’ll be really surprised if he lasts the whole season.

Cowboys fan here since the mid 70s. I have to thank your organization for George Pickens. Our QB needs all the help he can get. We’re still not going anywhere, but it should be fun anyway.

I didn’t see much of his play last year, and as a Steelers fan, I REALLY, REALLYY, don’t like this move, but…

He threw for almost 4000 yards and had 28 TDs compared to 11 Interceptions.

By comparison, Russell Wilson threw for 2500 yards and 16 TDs to 5 Interceptions.

I didn’t want Wilson either, FTR.

Steelers won’t win the Super Bowl, but the drama should be choice.

But this isn’t about the Super Bowl anyway…it’s about Rooney and Tomlin desperate to hold on to the one thing left that still make people think Tomlin is a great coach.

And that’s NHALS (Never Had A Losing Season).

Pickens is an exciting player. A coach who can keep him focused and disciplined will reap the rewards. He got none of that in Pittsburgh. My biggest criticism of Pickens is he will not block downfield especially for running backs who penetrate the second level. Best of luck, we’re hoping for the Aaron Rogers circus to be bringing fun and excitement

Ben Roethlisberger and Charlie Batch did just that. It’s been said they ignored calls sent down and did what they saw on the field. A “credible source” once said #7 would ignore plays sent In from the sidelines and drew them up in the dirt.

I understand why the Steelers made the move. Quarterback is so important, and they obviously need one. And maybe Rogers will be more mobile another year removed from his Achilles injury. It’s worth the gamble, I guess.
