Nah, that whole narrative is a weak ass reply to the racist voter laws that keep getting slapped down in courts. More hogwashing and obfuscation.
Soft bigotry of low expectations. Black people donāt understand the internet and canāt find the DMV 'causeā¦
No it isnāt. And even if it was, Iāll take the low expectations over the party that tries to prevent from voting.
Yes it is. Of course you would. You think dems donāt try to suppress republican voting?
Do I have a right to be racist?
Yeah, things that happened to him and recently. Things that happened to someone else 60 - 70 ⦠150 - 250 years ago, not so much.
Except for those seeing racism against white people, we all agree that there is less racism today than at any other time in US history.
The public sector, the laws and regulation system, has been cleaned up and The Promise has been fulfilled since at least 1976. Almost two generations.
I havenāt seen any claims of organizational racism in the private sector in this thread. Corporate America isnāt doing it.
That leaves individuals.
And therein lies the problem. For the story to continue, culprits have to be found. And from the complaints, even individuals who are blatantly racist and acting on it are getting harder and harder to find. Weāre at the point where we have to infer by emotion to accuse.
We have to continuously create new culprits in maintain the outrage.
Because it isnāt about ending racism, which is just a tool. It is about hegemony - who has the power to impose their vision and system on everyone else. Or least make theirs dominate.
It is not fair for 13% or 18% of a population to be ignored. Their issues not addressed. They are citizens and in a republican form of government, their issues are must be addressed. Also, rights are individual, so even outside the group they must be listened to.
In a democracy, who is hegemonic? The majority. 51% decides.
In another 25 years or so, not Latino whites will no longer be the majority in this country. Does that mean some other race will be? No. It just means that all other races combined will be - which is a useless bit of information (although it probably terrifies ignorant white people).
Even when that day comes, non-Latino whites will still be the largest single race in this country. Which means in a democracy, looking at race alone, they will still have the hegemony, they just need a small alliance to get to 51%. Another useless bit of information.
Because as we know, āwhite peopleā are very divided. They are in no way monolithic any more than any other racial group. Which means every racial group needs alliances already.
It seems to me that race is the most useless criteria to divide ourselves over of them all. Yet somehow we have allowed the pols, media, etc to do just that.
Republicans are horrible at controlling this narrative. They not only allow democrats to accuse them of racism at every turn, they often help the dems do it. Itās insane. Republicans have thrown up their hands when it comes to culture generators, just given up. And when they do find someone willing to push back, they are so bombastic it gets drowned out.
In this country today, there is no one being institutionally oppressed because of their identity. But we certainly believe there are.
Weāre being manipulated.
There are always going to be culture conflicts at the point of contact. Especially as individuals. But it isnāt racism and it is very seldom collective.
We have a policing problem in this country. We have drifted so far from the anchor that we donāt even remember what the anchor looks like. Yet we allowed them to make it a race thing.
We have an education problem in this country. We are raising generations of young people who know so much that just isnāt so. Which of course will facilitate further manipulation.
We are in the process of returning to the days of convincing people to be ashamed of their skin color. Itās the same thing as it was, just a different color. Always seeking to diminish, to lessen, based on race. It seems pathological. Maybe weāre doomed to it.
And we have made culture a code word for race and racism. It wasnāt an accident.
Races are not incompatible, cultures are or can be.
Alliances formed on skin color wonāt work, those based on shared culture will. See why they try to keep us divided by race? And we allow them to do it.
Weā¦the People, united in the demand for respect and securing of our rights by a government constituted solely for that purpose must certainly terrify the pols.
Imagine if you will, the police brutality protests (not riots) if MAGA had joined them peacefully instead of ācounter-protesting.ā
That should have been the one. We should have been saying Daniel Shaver right along side George Floyd. Insteadā¦
There are others.
We even managed to make a pandemic virus racial. Astounding.
Well stated.
Amen

Voter ID?
The soft bigotry of low expectations
ā ā ā ā ā ā ā ā ā
Not at all. The line we are given about requiring a government issued photo ID to vote disenfranchising minorities is that a lot of minorities donāt have such an ID and have difficulty getting one. That is what is ā ā ā ā ā ā ā ā ā
No it isnāt. And even if it was, Iāll take the low expectations over the party that tries to prevent from voting.
The totality of your brainwashing is impressive. No Party is trying to prevent minorities from voting. Requiring proof of who you are before you vote does not prevent anyone from voting. But it does help protect the integrity of the electoral system regardless of who you are and which party you are voting for. The only way to ensure one-person-one-vote is to require each voter to demonstrate their eligibility to vote and to show proof that they are the individual who is voting.
WuWei:
If it less than ever before and individual, why is it the basis for policy?
Still looking for an answer.
One reason is to keep it in the spotlight. Government policies, over time, can become the norm. They need to be a lot more careful about this stuff and consider the unintended consequences a lot more thoroughly.

They who?
Policy makers.
I donāt understand then.
And Robin Di Angeloās propaganda is leading the Coca Cola d&i culture. It was rolled out to every employee - codified.
Thatās a gross mischaracterization.

If I thought you knew anything about her or it, I might ask why.

I would hardly characterize it as āleadingā.
But not for the same reason
Pretty much the same reasons.
I understand.

Not remotely the same reasons. @PurpnGold told you why, you should listen.

I said pretty much, not identical.
Which is true. Considering we are having a very similar debate as they were 200+ years ago. Was not just about slavery. Womenās rights as well.
