The question was not about ANY coverage. I’d wager that you could find a CNN link about nearly any news item, no matter how minor. The question was about SIMILAR coverage. Wall-to-wall coverage. Above-the-fold front-page coverage. Featured headline on news site coverage.

Know what? I didn’t know about the 50 that were killed in Nigeria this week until I read this thread. I’ll bet you didn’t know it either. But anyone who opens a couple of web pages knows about New Zealand. Anyone.

I think the difference is that in Nigeria, this sort of killing is more common. We have come to expect it from time to time. It is unfortunate.

Meanwhile, in NZ, it is unexpected. It is rare. So it becomes more newsworthy due to its shock value.

I still dont even understand what the uproar in this thread is about. Like…something happened in Nigeria and it didnt get covered. So what? They’ve already admitted if it was a muslim killing Christians in NZ the coverage would be the same. So i have no idea what people are on about

If it was 50 Christians in New Zealand getting murdered by Muslims, it would have been a huge story. But awful things happen all the time in Africa, so no one really cares.

50 Christians have been killed in an attack in Nigeria, bringing the total death toll in similar attacks since February in the area to 120, I hope this tragedy will receive similar coverage and condemnation to the attack against Muslims in New Zealand.
