I am glad to see that Secretary of the Army Ryan McCarthy dropped the hammer on the cluster ■■■■ at Fort Cavazos. Clearly these people needed to pay with their military careers for their utter dereliction of duty in failing to halt the culture of sexual harassment and sexual assault at Fort Cavazos.
There will be a long road ahead to clean up the mess at Fort Cavazos, but this will get the message across in no uncertain terms that the current situation must stop and it must stop NOW.
Maybe Biden will do what Obama did at the colleges and threaten to withhold title IX funding.
I was in aviation for 26 years, Never seen any guys use their rank for sexual privilege’s. Sure seen a lot of women use their sex to get out of trouble though. Also seen a lot of young girls use it to get better working conditions.
If this is as bad as they claim, they shouldnt be fired or suspended. They should be charged under the UCMJ and prison sentences handed out. A lot of times the Chain of Command cant meet the burden of proof, but want to take the easy way out.
I was in the military in the early 70’s and OMG, thing were rough for women back then. From what I understand, it’s better now, but there’s still some major issues. My SIL just retired from USAF and he’s told me he feels sorry for women in the military. He won’t elaborate.
Some new reporting around Trump’s offer to cover the funeral of Specialist Guillen.
In the meeting, Trump maintained a dignified posture and expressed sympathy to Guillén’s mother. “I saw what happened to your daughter Vanessa, who was a spectacular person, and respected and loved by everybody, including in the military,” Trump said. Later in the conversation, he made a promise: “If I can help you out with the funeral, I’ll help—I’ll help you with that,” he said. “I’ll help you out. Financially, I’ll help you.”
In an Oval Office meeting on December 4, 2020, officials gathered to discuss a separate national-security issue. Toward the end of the discussion, Trump asked for an update on the McCarthy investigation. … At a certain point, according to two people present at the meeting, Trump asked, “Did they bill us for the funeral? What did it cost?”
According to attendees, and to contemporaneous notes of the meeting taken by a participant, an aide answered: Yes, we received a bill; the funeral cost $60,000.
Trump became angry. “It doesn’t cost 60,000 bucks to bury a ■■■■■■■ Mexican!” He turned to his chief of staff, Mark Meadows, and issued an order: “Don’t pay it!”
Khawam, the family attorney, told me she sent the bill to the White House, but no money was ever received by the family from Trump.
Seems pretty on-brand for Trump. Here’s hoping for 4 more years of this nonsense.
“I am beyond grateful for all the support President Donald Trump showed our family during a trying time,” the statement reads. “I witnessed firsthand how President Trump honors our nation’s heroes’ service. We are grateful for everything he has done and continues to do to support our troops.”
From Trump’s spokesperson regarding the meeting:
Regarding Trump’s ■■■■■■■■ Mexican” comment, Pfeiffer wrote: “President Donald Trump never said that. This is an outrageous lie from The Atlantic two weeks before the election.” He provided statements from Patel and a spokesman for Meadows, who denied having heard Trump make the statement. Via Pfeiffer, Meadows’s spokesman also denied that Trump had ordered Meadows not to pay for the funeral.
Why aren’t there ever any made up stories about oh, say Ted Cruz claiming hitler did some good things. Or McConnell wanting protestors to be shot? Why is it always Trump?
He didn’t. He reported the information he gained. Both sides of it. No one has denied he offered to pay for the funeral. And no one has denied that he didn’t. Why?
