President Trump ordered the emergency grounding of all Boeing 737 Max airplanes Wednesday afternoon following a recent crash in Ethiopia; the second major disaster for the model within a five-week period.
“We’re going to be issuing an emergency order of prohibition to ground all flights of the 737 max 8 and the 737 max 9 and planes associated with that line,” Trump told reporters in Washington.
The move comes days after other countries -including Canada, Germany, and more- grounded the fleet following the deadly crash that took the lives of over 150 passengers from dozens of countries.
“They are all in agreement with the action. Any plane currently in the air will go to its destination and thereafter be grounded until further notice,” added the President; referring to Boeing’s CEO, acting head of the FAA, and others.
