Doesn’t matter the situation put men and women together and sex will happen. Heck look at prisons, many men in prison will have a gay relationship even if they are not gay.

The need for sexual contact is hardwired into our very DNA and its ridiculous to expect humans to deny that.

That sex drive that human beings possess has consequences in such a setting, as well as once the prisoner is released.

So how does one not deny them that? If such a list was found in a civilian workplace, would the attitude be to just let it go? It’s just human workers expecting their hard wired drive?

Should they really not be denied that drive aboard a submarine? Possibly jeopardizing a covert mission when the sub needs to surface to get a pregnant crew member care?

Maybe that’s what the O P is saying, that the default setting for most human beings is heterosexual, & mixing & mingling of the sexes isn’t so practical in some settings.

It’s sort of hard to tell as the post seems to veer from its title to “sex saturation in our culture”.

But note that the issue complained about in the article was nothing more than a list.

Just like the internet is saturated with similar lists as part of normal internet content. Just like the objectifying of women we encounter at any level of normal social participation – advertising, entertainment, common reading literature (supermarket checkout racks), etc.

Any place I’ve ever been a new hire, the sexual harassment policy was clearly explained. Matter of fact, since the United States Armed Forces are a government employer, having worked myself for the V A, the policy regarding conduct that can be construed as sexual was so emphasized that a particular benefit that would have been of use—public transit vouchers—was not mentioned in the New Hire Orientation.

IMO A majority of men & women in the workplace don’t conduct themselves in such a manner. And the small percentage who do probably would lack that sense of boundaries regardless of the culture.

The articles I’ve seen on it don’t say. The reports are just concerned about offense.

Some sailors got kicked out. Article says that the guy who was in charge lost his job. But I didn’t pick up anything about the results of the mission. (Or if there was any particular mission under way.)
