I thought this couldn’t get better. A 10 year old should google menarche. That’s the solution.

No it isn’t.

You’ve lost the plot.

Well I don’t know how dumb any ten year olds you know are but the ones I know are capable of a google search about periods and knowing which sites are trustworthy. Plus it’s not exactly life or death. Heck these days they can just ask Alexa or Siri.

I’m aware of the plot.

Lol. Can’t trust a teacher to discuss menarche. We’ll leave it to the internet. It’s a resource of accurate and reliable medical information. Love it. Siri to the rescue.

Nope. Can’t trust crits with kids about anything.

Considering most of them can’t define what a woman is, you are correct.

The State does not have the authority to force medical professionals to break doctor-patient confidentiality.

But you said the key word … “parents.” It is the parent’s responsibility, not the teacher’s, not the school district, not the politicians. Parents.

Just saying

Please note that no medication will be administered unless the appropriate, signed paperwork is completed and on file. As part of this protocol, Tylenol/*Acetaminophen will not be administered until a parent/guardian has been contacted. This will apply to each/every dose.

Fight 'em in Houston!

Does the ten-yr-old have a parent (or legal guardian)? There ya go.

And if the mother is ignorant about menstruation, there is a high likelihood that her parental responsibility has already been awarded to someone else.

That is exactly right. Consent forms for children to see the nurse are signed at the beginning of each school year, not when the student has cause to see the nurse. These people never quit with their manufactured excuses as to why they must violate parent’s rights to raise their own children.

This has to be code.

Sooo … on the extremely remote chance that a fifth grade girl who might get her period doesn’t have a parent or responsible guardian to talk to, you want to violate every parent’s rights. How very lib of you. :smirk:

It looks pretty transparent to me. Lib progs don’t trust parents to raise their own children.

I would just like to mention, that had something happened to me when my children were young, my husband could have and would have talked to my daughter through her first period and any other medical issues she may have had at school. He would have made sure that if she didn’t feel comfortable talking to him, then he would have found someone she could talk to. That’s what a dad does.

Can’t indoctrinate them if parents are raising them.

These are typical forms that are filled out at the beginning of the year saying it is ok for the school nurse to treat your child for injuries etc, and to seek medical care if greater expertise is needed. The proper blame is on those who don’t give either consent or an alternative treatment procedure.
The solution is simple. Make the response a required completion field in the registration form. Either fill it in or the child is not registered.

Working so hard to act like leaving decisions to parents is some kind of disaster.

He knows the plot. The state is setting up lesson plans for when it is appropriate to cover sex education. The state likes sixth grade. He likes fourth grade.
These are clearly classroom situations and not meant to cover the unusual personal situation that might be covered by a school nurse with parental consent, or a suggestion by the nurse that the parent consult a counselor.
It is trying to make a culture war out of simple state level course planning.

You can’t even give them a cough drop without a consent form being signed.
