You spoke for him and you were wrong.

I’m tired of repeating myself. Literal meaning is self explanatory.

No I didn’t. I spoke for me … His statement “we’re good” means just that. We have reached parity. It says nothing about stopping “progress.” The he has expounded on his statement with words different than mine, does not contradict my words at all.
Apparently, I am making in roads on you though. You seem to have shifted the focus of your argument toward the periphery rather than the core of the topic.

Not really. The word has a definition. It’s literal meaning, is a holiday celebrated on June Nineteenth. Which is why I don’t understand when you say it doesn’t have a literal meaning, it does.
Just like brunch (breakfast + lunch) literal meaning is late morning meal
When you say literal meaning, I take it to mean, not figurative speech. Unless it has another definition I’m not aware of. Juneteenth, isn’t being used as figurative speech.

But its not June Nineteenth. Its Juneteenth. That literally has no literal meaning.
Why is this so important to you?
he did no such thing, and he’s not wrong
why do you reduce yourself to such pointless quibbling?
why it’s just a simple “portmanteau”
except no such portmanteau exists for anything else at all, and it sounds like illiterate “massah”slave slang
i guess that’s the idea

I think it means that he finally realizes that he has lost the original argument.

I’m trying to understand what you are saying, because I just can’t wrap my head around it.
When you say literal meaning, I understand it as, the definition of the word. Not figurative speech.
Literal meaning = definition. Or am I wrong? So to me, when you say Juneteenth, has no literal meaning, I hear it does not have a definition. I’m trying to understand, if my understanding of the words “literal meaning” is just wrong.

I have been perfectly clear. If you haven’t got it by now, repeating myself won’t help.

Yes, when you reach equality under the law, progress should stop. Unless you think you deserve to be privileged under the law.

Nope. It was done with full knowledge that it wasn’t a real word.

That’s correct but you don’t fully appreciate it. You’re too young and have not witnessed the past to fully appreciate how far we’ve come. Your mind is made up and you are filled with too much of the hateful division that is hurting this cause, not helping it.

No…you won’t acknowledge that the GOP of Lincoln was not a Conservative party (the Democrats of the day were) , nor will you acknowledge that liberal Rockefeller Republicans were the only Republicans that voted for the CRA. Goldwater conservatives joined Dixiecrats in being totally against it. Goldwater of course using “states rights” as his reason for being against it.
THOSE are the facts.

What made democrats conservative and republicans liberal during that time frame exactly? As far as I know, slavery is not a conservative principle. So opposing it doesn’t mean you are liberal. And supporting it didn’t make Democrats conservatives.
