If you’re older and catch any respiratory illness you’ll be in trouble.

Pneumonia is what did my grandpa in. Though in fairness, he let it happen that time.

He may not have contracted COVID at church … but he sure as hell interacted with a lot of people - and could have given it to all those folks.

Why take the risk when Zoom churching is so much safer?

I do wonder if all these church pastors insisting that they hold services in person rather than through technology like Zoom do it because they know the requests for donations work so much better in person than through a donation button on a website…

A zoom church service is like Internet sex.

If you believe in personal responsibility for one’s actions, you must accept the right to choose for oneself how to act.

So the pastor has only himself to blame if he dies? As do the congregants? Well - that’s true enough.

The latest data on Covid tells us that eighty percent of people who contract the disease have mild cases or are asymptomatic. Older people, are people with underlying conditions of any age are the ones likely to come down with the more severe cases. Of those, fifteen percent require oxygen, and about five percent require ventilation.

Given 4 out of 5 people who have Covid will be just fine, and the 1 out of 5 people who are at risk know they are at risk and can take precautions, I am with the Pastor. How we live our lives should have more consideration than how we die.

The Pastor is one who knows that gathering together is more beneficial to the human spirit than each person sitting in front of a TV. He placed spirit over body, and as a free person he is well within his rights to do so.

We now know that many of those “four out of five”, although they may not have a serious acute illness, nonetheless will get lung scarring and potentially suffer long term consequences like heart or neurological troubles…complications that could last the rest of their lives.

You’ve got to stop thinking of this as simply an acute respiratory illness.

It’s not.

And he is currently in intensive care.

Who among us does not known an elderly person with underlying health difficuties?

I’m not afraid for myself - but my mom and dad would undoubtedly die if they contracted the disease.

Neither one leaves the house - I bring them everything. So if they catch it, they’ll catch it from me.

I would prefer that that not happen. Other people’s mileage may vary.

There is no answer to this, because of all the unique situations that make up human life on a national level. I think almost all of us are asking what we can do. You are taking care of people who are older, doing all you can to keep them safe and secure.

I am dealing with a young teen population, some of whom are able to absorb lock downs, and others who are having trouble with it. There are businesses failing, even though I have made it a point to do take-out dining much more often than I have ever been inclined.

As is well known, I loathe big government and their mandates.

Who said anything about orgasms? I am talking about the fulfillment of the experience. In the case of church, that’s spiritual, not physical.

You got it.

No we don’t. We know that a few people who had significant symptoms have incurred those effects. We know nothing about any lasting effects on asymptotic and mild symptom people.

The solution for you is simple … don’t go to church.

People don’t just go to church and back home, church and back home.

They go to church without masks on , may be exposed to the disease, then go to a grocery store where they wear the mask long enough to get in, and then take it off while they wander around. At least here in Cheyenne, the store employees aren’t allowed to say anything to them.

Or they go to the store sans mask, then go to church, expose others…

Now, I may have given the wrong impression - I’m in Cheyenne and I’m not concerned about getting the virus. I do take precautions because, like I say, I’ve got two vulnerable parents who, if they did contract Covid, could only get it through me.

That’d be more horrible of a feeling than some sick guy who goes to a church and it can’t be proven that he’s the one who gave it to the pastor who may or may not be dying…

So how about you, Samm? Do you go to church and wear a mask, or not wear a mask?

I cannot wear the standard mask, but I do wrap a veil around my face when I go shopping. I go to church, which is outside. I do not go into the fenced area, because I cannot cover my face for that length of time. Even when leaving, I stay well away from everyone. Even though I remain well apart, I still have a sense of gathering with the community, which as someone noted, is not the same as watching it take place on TV or video.

Personal choices; personal responsibility. You got it.

As for me, I don’t go to church, but that has nothing whatsoever to do with COVID. Yes, I wear a mask in public, which has to do with my concession to the fear of others that they might catch COVID from me. It’s like wearing a badge that says, “I care about your concerns.”

Wish more people felt as you do, rather than - as happens here in Cheyenne stores - they wear the mask to get into a store and then immediately remove it.

Caring about others - the only commandment ever needed. :grinning:

Just went to a wedding yesterday. The ceremony was outdoors, the reception was indoors. That was a bit of a surprise. Over 100 people, no masks.

If it is a firm i consider reputable i will get it. Somebody like pfizer or johnson and johnson.

A Chinese vaccine? No way in heck.

I’m simply not getting vaccinated. I’ll wait at least one year.

How about an oral vaccine?
