Biden really isn’t in a position to negotiate with Hamas over the American hostages. Israel is in firm control of the situation and Biden really has no say in what Israel chooses to do.

Biden could withhold arms, support jets and ships and make grumpy noises. But he isn’t- because he supports Israel’s decision to do a hard crackdown.
