Let me put the argument another way, and see if it makes sense to you.
I recently (less than a month ago) had COVID. By law, I was required to quarantine temporarily in my home.
Since I could not go to work, I got paid workmans comp (NY state law mind you) for missed work days.
Who paid for that? You did (thank you btw for doing that, I’m truly grateful).
Now, for the sake of argument, let’s assume things went south. Now I have to go to the hospital for treatment.
Who is paying for this? I sure as hell can’t because I can’t work. Somebody has to pay for this (doctors and nurses don’t work for free), so again, you paid for it. Again, thank you very much.
Now, while I am in the hospital, my health turns south some more, and I am put on a respirator. Who pays for that? Obviously you did.
Finally, I recover from the illness, but still have lingering problems walking more than across the room without running short of breath (this is covid long haul if your’re wondering), so now I need rehabilitation treatments. Why pays for that? Once again, you did.
If you’re paying for my covid illness, what on earth gives me the right give you the middle finger, and refuse to roll up my arm and take the covid vaccine?
(this argument is based on SCOTUS rulings already handed down, most notably "Simon vs Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts)
