The dent was already there, in the false premise.

I’ll take that as a no.

Sounds like nation building. America 2.0.

Thanks. Thought I might have forgotten one.

Simpliest way to debunk the article in the OP.

Yep. I wonder if they are filling a void…. To their benefit no less.

Not filling a void so much as building their own empire.

Right and replacing another. May be. I am not sure

No, I don’t. There is not one thing in my house made in Europe. Much less Russia or Ukraine. Not one.

If I can’t buy American, I buy Mexican. Or Korean. I have some Chinese goods, but I’m working on it and waiting for The Great Decoupling.

Even my rice is 'Merican.

You don’t mention Chinese invading their peaceful neighbors and subjugating them. Hypocrisy.

Is it because Russians are white?

Notice I didn’t mention “well”.

She used to say that too. Probably still is.

I’m going to bow out. This feels like a bit of a dogpile. It wasn’t fair one on one.

Putin just seems like he does what he thinks is best for his country, ■■■■ globalism. Yeltsin was a clown, very similar to Biden.

You’re dealing with a cosmic axiom, one that warps everything like a giant black hole.

The GOP base’s reaction to the Russian invasion of Ukraine has really shed light on it. I was with my parents (overt Putin admirers) during the early weeks of the “special operation.” It really threw them off balance in a fascinating way.

The main reason progs started hating Putin was this law, adopted by the Russian legislature and signed into law by Putin. The law simply protects children.

Ask yourself… is there any political and social activism more powerful and rabid in the US than the promotion of LGBTQEIEIO indoctrination? Maybe CRT activists but that’s it.

Look at the date that this legislation was signed by Putin. 30 June 2013.

Just two weeks earlier Obama had this to say about Putin and Russia.

Obama speaking: “And this I think is an example of the kind of constructive, cooperative relationship that moves us out of a Cold War mindset into the realm where, by working together, we not only increase security and prosperity for the Russian and American people, but also help lead the world to a better place.”

Then look at when Obama started his anti-Russian activitiess: two months after putin signed the legislation…

https://www.cnn.com/2013/08/07/politics/obama-putin/index.html

And it went downhill from there.

Contrary to prog lies, the legislation does not outlaw homosex. It outlaws what we see in the US… the indoctrination of children into this behavior. And THAT was unacceptable to LGBTQ in the US. .

Best for his country: he’s been in power with relatively few restraints for 20+ years. What has he done? Diversify the economy? Turn Russia into an appealing place for innovation? Turn around the low expected lifespan of Russians?

And that’s before he turned the country into a complete pariah state, blew up the economy, committed deliberate war crimes, and provided a stage for the humiliation of the Russian military that will probably last a generation.

He’s a kleptocrat, who’s possibly the richest person in the world, surrounded by oligarchs and criminals. How the ■■■■ does any of this overlap with what’s good for the country or its people?

It’s entirely possible to loathe Putin and his invasion of Ukraine without wanting the US to be the world’s policeman.

The article pretty much explains some right wing people liked Russia’s conservative social values. The article also states that much of the support of Putin by these people has been walked back since Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. So why isn’t the thread title “Putin was (not is) Popular with some People in the West”?

When have I ever said that? This is the kind of straw-manning, putting words in people’s mouths, creating false dichotomies that you regularly get pissed about. LOL. But at least you didn’t begin with the word “So.”
