Why is democratic socialism bad?

Jacobson v. Massachusetts

Also, the clause says “general welfare” of the United States, not individuals.

“A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take away everything that you have”
Thomas Jefferson.

Jefferson probably didn’t say that, but it’s true nonetheless.

He did say:

“The natural progress of things is for liberty to yeild, and government to gain ground.”

The spelling of “yeild” is consistent.

Our military is there to protect the American peoples’ inalienable right to pursue their own happiness from those who would invade our borders and cause harm. And we, as the “People of the United States” have agreed to “raise and support Armies” for the purpose so stated.

On the other hand, and with respect to our federal Constitution, we have not delegated a power allowing our federal government to use its taxing authority to directly tax one individual and transfer that revenue to another individual for their personal economic needs. To do so is a violation of our Constitution in addition to using government force in an immoral fashion. One of our forefathers explains this as follows:

"Under a just and equal Government, every individual is entitled to protection in the enjoyment of the whole product of his labor, except such portion of it as is necessary to enable Government to protect the rest; this is given only in consideration of the protection offered. In every bounty, exclusive right, or monopoly, Government violates the stipulation on her part; for, by such a regulation, the product of one man’s labor is transferred to the use and enjoyment of another. The exercise of such a right on the part of Government can be justified on no other principle, than that the whole product of the labor or every individual is the real property of Government, and may be distributed among the several parts of the community by government discretion; such a supposition would directly involve the idea, that every individual in the community is merely a slave and bondsman to Government, who, although he may labor, is not to expect protection in the product of his labor. An authority given to any Government to exercise such a principle, would lead to a complete system of tyranny." ___ See Representative Giles, speaking before Congress February 3rd, 1792

So yes! Using government force to directly tax one individual’s paycheck which is then transferred to another individual for their personal economic needs, is in fact evil, and an immoral use of government force. This is not to say that government cannot be used to help the poor and needy. It merely points out a particular set of circumstances in which government force is used in an immoral and evil fashion and has resulted in a “complete system of tyranny”!

To lay with one hand the power of the government on the property of the citizen [a working person’s earned wage] and with the other to bestow upon favored individuals, to aid private enterprises and build up private fortunes [the Obama/Clinton Administration’s Solyndra, Chevy Volt, Fisker, Exelon swindling deals] is none the less a robbery because it is done under forms of law and called taxation ____ Savings and Loan Association v.Topeka,(1875)

It was found in notes he kept shortly after his death and was printed in 1953. On September 17, 2013 it was attributed as a quote he did make.

Go to the Monticello website for all things Jefferson. They do a great job.

And citizens are part of the united states.

No, they aren’t. The states are. But you have a nice day.

So you are not a citizen of the united states of America.

Go study. Educate yourself. Become wiser.

So since I’m a citizen of MI then I would need a passport or something to go to a different state.

No books in Michigan?

What are you inferring by that remark?

The Democrat Party Leadership’s offer for free government cheese is really not free. It first addicts and then enslaves participants on an iron fisted socialist run plantation.

If you relocate to a different state you have to get a drivers license in that state, tag your car in that state, when I was in the service I had to vote on a absentee ballot in my home state, the only constant is your American Citizenship. The federal government governs the states, the state governments govern the residents of that state.
That’s why we’re here right now, we have state leaders that have decided to ignore federal law like California who in theory wants to be removed as a state but wants a to bite both sides of the apple, they want they’re independence, but still want federal $$ like a state.

The fact is that no system is perfect and there are pros and cons to each:

The US even with all its flaws is consistently rated as one of the best places to live:

Furthermore any significant economic change will produce winners and losers, just look at the ACA. The question is weather our dysfunctional government won’t just make things worse for many in the middle class.
