Why Donald Won’t Fire Sessions

I’ll ask the rest of you why you think he will or won’t, but in the meantime:

1). Donald won’t fire Sessions because he (Donald) is a chicken ■■■■■ He doesn’t even have the courage to personally fire someone like Omarosa.

2). Donald knows he’s the only one who can fire Sessions. For further details on this point, please refer to point number one.

3). Donald thinks he can manipulate Sessions into resigning. For further details on this point, please refer to point number one.

4). Donald can’t blame this on any one but himself. He chose Sessions, he hired him, and he praised him early on. Since Donald has no one else to blame, and if Sessions refuses to resign… well, see point number one.

He’s a chicken ■■■■ child with not one ounce of courage in his body. He shrinks from personal confrontation and retreats to the safe confines of Twitter, a favorite of angst-filled tweens.

Not sure if he wants to deal with Rosenstein as acting AG.

I posted this tweet in another thread, but it’s worth repeating here as it is relevant to the discussion.

He then goes on in another tweet saying how the Dems must love Sessions now.

Anyway, he’s not only publicly attacking Sessions again, but suggesting Sessions should be looking the other way when it comes to possible criminal activity if it involves Rs. This is absolutely mind boggling.

Whatever happened to “law and order” and “drain the swamp”. Not to mention the oath of office.

Although I agree with the OP that Trump is very cowardly, I do think he will drop the hammer on Sessions, and probably right after the November vote.

There is no reasonable justification for urging an attorney general to look the other way with respect to criminal activity. I’m sure some of his supporters will chime in with some, though.

I truly don’t think Donald will personally drop the hammer. He may fire Sessions after the midterms, I’ll give ya that, but he won’t do it in person. In fact, I wonder if Sessions has become his “in-party Hillary,” since he and his new party of victims need a constant bogeyman. Donald may just have to keep him around to provide distraction for even his most ardent supporters so they don’t notice him being indicted.

That’s possible I suppose. And you are right, if he fires Sessions it won’t be in person. The Comey firing wasn’t done personally either. Comey found out he was canned when he saw it on TV.

Trump will never fire anyone face to face, even if the termination is justified. As you said he’s a coward.

Wow. Not sure I have the words…

It’s funny that conservative men think Trump is tough when he’s demonstrated to be a coward and ■■■■■■

A coward NY billionaire elite, just like the common men he represents.

List of ways he relates to the common man:

Doesn’t drink
Inherited millions
sleeps with porn stars
fantasizes about ■■■■■■■ daughter
bankrupt six times and still gets bank loans from overseas
from NYC
Draft dodger
cheated on multiple wives

Yep, seems like a conservative hero to me.

But, but, Gorush, tax cuts and trolling Libs!!!

The crazy thing he did with this Tweet is virtually assured that whomever he selects to replace Sessions will be required to guarantee that they will not interfere with the Mueller probe in order to receive confirmation from the Senate. He once again makes the situation worse for himself because of his petulant, juvenile behavior. What a sad joke he is.

Yes, that’s the only way the person would get confirmed, although even then the Senate might find a way to block the nomination.

Sessions was the first big name R who endorsed Trump. I remember at the time his endorsement made a lot of anti Trump conservatives angry, because we believed it would really help Trump with southern primaries. Turned out we were right.

So Sessions took a big gamble, endorsed and campaigned for Trump, and this is the thanks he gets. All because he (rightfully) recused himself from the Russia investigation, and now also because he hasn’t had Hillary locked up yet.

That is a really good point. Depending on how Trump goes about trying to remove Sessions and who he selects to replace him, there is a real possibility of the Senate not agreeing to confirmation. Also, if this happens after the midterms, then that could change things as well, depending on how they shake out for respective control of Congress, number of seats held by each party, etc.

After reading the synopsis for Woodward’s new book, it makes a lot of sense now too why Sessions refuses to resign. It seems that everyone in this administration knows that Trump is a raging moron, and that they are all acting as a check to prevent him from doing the unimaginable and wrecking real harm, irreparable harm, on this nation of ours.

I’ve always believed well respected people like Mattis will never resign, if for no other reason than patriotic duty. It’s been a revolving door with WH staff, but cabinet members have generally left due to personal scandals (Price, Pruitt) although in the case of Tillerson I think Trump had him pushed out.

It’s a train wreck no matter how you look at it. And Trump could tweet that yesterday about Sessions and the DOJ, and there is hardly a peep about it. He’s normalizing things that are very, very abnormal, ,and it’s rather scary.

After reading what Woodward writes, which I believe and respect him as a professional journalist who will do his due diligence in ensuring what he says is accurate and supported, I have to believe you are spot on here. It seems as if Mattis, Kelly, Sessions, and some others recognize that our nation is on the line with this man at the helm. And they clearly feel a sense of integrity and duty to protect us all from the disaster that is Trump.

And honestly my friend, “scary” does not do this justice. We should all be in panic mode right now. Everything about this administration is abnormal and devolving by the day.

There’s no easy solution to this. The D party is full of loons. So it’s not as though there is a good alternative. This is so depressing.

You are quite right. It is part of our slide towards an Idiocracy. I guess we get the government we deserve. Which stinks.

The alternative is to sit back and enjoy the ride.

I couldn’t be happier with the results thus far. I’ve completely tuned out all of the noise and I’m just enjoying the ride.

Record economy, less regulations, strengthened military, Gorsuch and soon to be Kavanaugh, record number of conservative lower court judges.

Best economy in the history of the country. No one has ever heard of an economy growing at 4.2% for an entire quarter.
