Why did the Democrats consistently lie about the border?

Hopefully he has been conscripted and has found his ass in Ukraine, laying in the mud somewhere.

Pretty much ANYTHING they said about the border and their enforcement of it was a lie:

This discussion also considers the power a president has over the border and immigration:

As a fair-minded person like yourself, I would actually be very interested in your thoughts on why you believe that the Democrats intentionally and repeatedly lied about what could be done at the border?

I see it a little differently. I see it as more about a lack of resolve or motivation.

An example from my life as a software engineer.

While interviewing for a position in a financial firm, the hiring manager shared with me the tale of his lead engineer who spent countless hours pontificating about what he could accomplish if the company would purchase the software products he requested. There was nothing in the budget for the purchase of any new software. As a result, he was never able to produce, saying there was nothing he could do without the software.

In my interview I was able to demonstrate, with a portfolio of samples from my prior employment, how I could create exactly what the manager was looking for, in about 6 months. The manager’s expression said it all. Needless to say, I was hired and within a few short months I was able to deliver exactly what I had promised.

So, was the person who was unable to deliver lying? I don’t think so. I believe he honestly had no clue or motivation on how to proceed without the software.

Just like Biden and the DEMs pontificating about yet more legislation in order to deal with the border.

The mess at the border was generated in part by getting rid of many EO’s and international agreements Trump had used to stop illegal immigration. As the election neared, Biden reinstated some of these to reduce illegal crossings.
The Biden administration knew exactly how to increase or decrease illegal immigration.
The only real question is why did the Biden administration want a flood of illegal immigrants released into the United States?

The obvious answer is that they wanted to release millions of illegal aliens into the US and they knew that the American people did not want this.
First, lie that it was happening.
When that fails, lie that it can’t be stopped under current laws.

A lot of the the drug trafficking is done by Americans sneaking it over the border. Is that Mexico’s fault too?

Openly disagreeing with the government can result is arrests, jail time and violence.

Membership in a particular social group, or political opinion falls under US Asylum laws.

A secure border would minimize that kind of activity.

What more can they be doing to prevent Americans smuggling??

Great. Nicaraguans have Costa Rica and Panama to the south, and a bunch of countries they hike through before getting to the USA. Belize is nice.

Nicaragua sucks. That doesn’t mean the USA has to absorb their population.

With a secure border, they will be forced to smuggle through the ports of entry, by plane or by boat. Currently, they can pick an unsecured border crossing and simply walk across undetected.

Build the wall so that all traffic has to go through check points.

For the record, “a lot of the trafficking” (your term) can mean a lot of things. Not sure what point you’re looking to make with that.

86.4% of fentanyl was smuggled in by United States citizens, going thru a check point.

How does anyone know that?

That is where they are caught. 84% of fentanyl coming in from Mexico, is small amounts by Americans, according to the DEA

Then it’s not getting into the USA if they are caught.
