I guess the question is whether the people who are protesting are just the anti-vax/anti-science right wingers or is it a significant portion of their population?
Why are the people of China upset when their government is simply trying to protect them from COVID?

Ummm- do you know how draconian the lockdowns have been in China?
Some people have been locked in their homes…since August. Some elderly people can’t get food or medicine. People have died from fires because they were trapped in their apartments. China went to a whole 'nother level with covid lockdowns. People are understandably pissed.

I don’t foresee many of those people commenting on this topic. They have no problem with those type of controls placed on people.

Yes, the people who demonized anti-lockdown protesters in North America and Europe are in a difficult position now. The result amounts to tacit support for the Chinese government.
The White House is sidestepping questions about support for the protests other than they say they support the right to peaceful protest. Of course, the White House had demanded that Canada crack down on peaceful protests in Canada; we will see if they do the same in China.
Apple is restricting iPhone data sharing.
On the other hand, it looks like Beijing is taking as step back from some of the most extreme zero-COVID measures.
We will see if the government’s announcement will do much to slow the protests.

The problem is if they defend the Chinese people for rising up against draconian covid restrictions, where does that put them when they wouldn’t do the same for their own people in the US?
They can’t defend the Chinese protestors because they would then have to defend the US protestors for doing the same.
