Why are ships backed up off the coast of California?

Both I believe

Candles emit smoke/soot particulates. Won’t be long before Calif bans them too, once Karen-wokies figure that out. (They’ve already banned wood-burning devices in new construction in the Bay Area. :man_shrugging: )

Only in California where their Left wing governments have managed to introduce sucking where it had been removed previously.

I have been Underwhelmed with the grid performance over the last dozen years.

Computer demand has shown plenty of flaws.

Fires in CA…storm vulnerability… transmission uncertainty.

It would be smart to keep both systems viable and in good working order. Redundant is desirable.

Indeed, at the same time California is trying to advance EVs they are trying to … well, let’s be honest here, restrict computers that aren’t basically rad gaming systems (high performance) or low power appliances.

But if the computer you want to isn’t good enough to be exempt — but too good to be considered a mere appliance — they’re coming for you.

Btw … you do realize that a given gas station is going to have three or more tanks, right? At least one for each grade of fuel, and also diesel. A busy neighborhood station may be selling 4,000 gallons a day out of maybe 30,000 or more if the tanks were near full, or maybe half (or at least less than full) because half seems more likely … that’s more than 48 hours. A lot more. Do you think even California, as mismanaged as Democrats have managed it, is going to frequently see blackouts with no power for days at a time?

Even if no trucks were coming and rationing was on a generator to power the station might run through a couple of gallons an hour, and run for weeks with no issues.

But all EVs, what weren’t hybrids, would be without exception expensive lawn art in rather short order.

Yes, all around the world there are large protests about Covid restrictions strangling commerce.

You have evidence to the contrary from earlier this year. 48 hours was generous.

This is a pretty amazing statement. It takes an act of god for an American citizen to spend a weekend doubting that the lights will come on with the flick of a switch.

Gas bags happened across an entire region of the country just because of a clerical clownshow in one company.

Electric suppliers are understaffed with line workers.

Repairs take much longer.

Parts are less available.

Yes… underwhelmed.

Don’t worry. Biden is going to speed things up by encouraging more apprenticeships. Just hang on a few more years.

Not a common thing no matter how you want to pretend it would be.

At any rate, once the power stops there’s still a reserve of fuel on hand besides just in the individual gas tank, it can be gotten at with reasonable effort … but those precious non-hybrid EVs have got nothing to fall back on while the power is out.

Environmentalist of the Watermelon sort are mental.

“Clean energy” sources other than hydro are unreliable. There are cloudy days and the wind doesn’t always blow. It’s like the whole thing with hybrids. If you use a hybrid to supplement the gas it works well, but if you drive down the battery and then resort to gas you probably would be better keeping the money you used for the hybrid and buy a cheaper car that just gets good mileage.

UPDATE: It looks like Bare-Shelves Biden is boldly going were no fool has gone before:

Is Biden going to demand that the ports stay open eight days a week?

Staying open isn’t the problem as i understand it. It is some dumb as heck Newsom law that went into effect prohibiting the trucks hauling the goods away from the ports had to be 10 or less years old.

Now there’s a truck shortage to haul the stuff away. Even a moron should have seen that coming. Newsom is submoron.

On the bright side DeSantis has offered to let the ships start being unloaded n Fla. :+1: :+1: :+1: :grinning:

There is no truck shortage. Americans are just buying way too much stuff during a labor shortage.

Literally the entire supply chain, from China, to the East Coast is having issues keeping up.
